This is a building shock absorber.
These monsters are installed on skyscrapers in earthquake prone regions of the world. In the event of a tremor, the weight of the building will cause them to compress and absorb the damaging vibrations. Look at the size of that guy. Can you even begin to imagine what kind of force it would take to cause those shocks to compress? We're talking the weight of an entire building combined with the most massive force mother nature can muster to even get these things to budge.
This is a toilet paper holder.
No force on Earth can move it. Apparently.
You also can't tape them to your shoes to make moon boots. True story.
