If You Had All Day, Everyday

What would you do if you had all day?

No commute. No job. Just hours of potential.

I can’t be the only one that loathes sitting in traffic for a couple of hours each day. I’m certain not everyone is content to work for the profit of others for 8 hours.

So, if you had all day to yourself everyday. No more nine to five. What would you do? Sleep in? Learn to paint? Take over the neighborhood in a silent coup while the neighbors were at work?

Put it in the comments and let’s talk about it.

I really want to know. What would you do if you had all day?

  1. Head to the Lake District and go for a really long walk. Windermere to Rydal maybe. Visit Wordsworth's cottage, wander lonely as a cloud, that kind of thing. Problem is, I'd never go back to work.

    1. Open a bakery/coffee shop in a small Uni town. Free WiFi, desks for the kids and super yummy food. Highlight local authors & artists at weekend & evening events. Open during semester & spend the rest of the year bumming round the world with Mr & Mini. Hard work, it'd be worth it though.

  2. No ifs. I was laid off last week so I now have all the time of the world. Although I am looking for a 9-5 job I am taking this gift of time and working on making things. Y'know those pretty things I make & give as gifts and people always say "Where did you get this? You MADE it?! Why aren't you spending all of your time making these & selling them? How much would you charge for a....?" So one door has been closed and I'm feeling a firm Universal shove in the back towards that odd door that I have always avoided. I wake up in the morning, see the Spouse off, have coffee and then spend several hours making shit, taking long or short breaks to take walks, work out or just sit in the sun. Soon as I have the stock I'll be spending parts of my days at local markets & making the rounds convincing funky little shops that they need to carry my stuff. I am already 'working' longer hours than I did at my desk job and end up feeling rested at the end of the day. - Hawthorntree

    1. Sorry to hear about the lay off. But it sounds like you're making the most of it. Which may be exactly why I'm asking.

    2. I have all day at the moment, but there are never enough hours in the day to do everything that I want! :) I get up and tell myself that, 'today is gonna be the day, I will make loads of money', but this doesn't always go to plan

    4. Still, it's a solid plan. And, it's important to have a plan.

  4. I would make toys and other things to either sell or give away. Actually I already do this but if had the open schedule I could do a lot more.

Like Anonymous above said- I can work really hard for 12 hours straight in my shop and feel energized and excited about tomorrow, whereas I feel tired by lunch on a normal work day.
And the stuff I do in the shop can be much more difficult and frustrating than what I do for a living.

Write. Coyly rebuff romantic overtures from Ryan Gosling -- then give in. Share ice cream with him.
    Write about it.
